U.S. Embassy Abidjan Hosts Panel on “Tourism, Peace & Economic Development” for World Tourism Day

On September 27, in celebration of World Tourism Day, the U.S. Embassy in Abidjan hosted a panel discussion under the theme “Tourism, Peace & Economic Development.” The event featured Béatrice Assué, Regional Director of Tourism for Abidjan South, and Bénédicte Joan, Founder of the Train & Travel Association.

The panel focused on the significant role tourism plays in fostering peace and driving economic growth in Côte d'Ivoire. Discussions highlighted strategies to enhance the tourism sector’s contribution to national development while maintaining social cohesion.

Following the panel, certificates were awarded to participants of the “English for Tourism Professionals” course, an initiative by the U.S. Embassy aimed at strengthening the English skills of tourism professionals in Côte d'Ivoire. The course is designed to equip them with the linguistic tools necessary to thrive in the global tourism market and better serve international visitors.

This initiative is part of the embassy's broader effort to support the development of the tourism industry in Côte d'Ivoire and enhance the country's attractiveness to foreign tourists.
