On August 9, 2024, Evariste Koffi Yapi, Secretary General of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, African Integration, and Ivorians Abroad, met with Mr. Jagan Chapagain, Secretary General of the Red Cross, at the Ministry's headquarters in Abidjan. This working session aimed to enhance collaboration between Côte d'Ivoire and the Red Cross and explore how the organization can further assist the refugee camps in the northern part of the country.

The Red Cross emphasized the importance of joint efforts and committed to increasing its local budget to support the Ivorian government’s initiatives. Mr. Yapi expressed his satisfaction with the strong partnership between Côte d'Ivoire and the Red Cross and endorsed the country’s participation in the upcoming global conference in October 2024.

The visit underscores a renewed commitment to addressing refugee needs and fostering international cooperation.
