Tidjane Thiam to Help Farmers Acquire Land Certificates

Gagnoa, May 20, 2024 (AIP) – The spokesperson for the Democratic Party of Côte d’Ivoire (PDCI-opposition), announced on Saturday, May 18, 2024, during a gathering in Gagnoa, that the party's president, Tidjane Thiam, has a policy to assist landowners in acquiring land certificates.

“Do not sell your land. The PDCI enacted the land law in 1998. Instead, establish land certificates. And if you cannot work the land, lend it to someone who can, and one day, the land will return to your children,” emphasized Mr. Brédoumy from Laurent Gbagbo Square in Gagnoa.

He urged farmers to support President Thiam in becoming the next head of state so he can help them obtain land certificates. “I know how to proceed,” he added.

Brédoumy Soumahila was present to sponsor the launch of the "One Million Farmers for Tidjane Thiam" caravan, initiated by the National Network of Farmers of Côte d'Ivoire for Tidjane Thiam (RENACITT).

As the Deputy Executive Secretary of the PDCI, he encouraged farmers to spread the word about the new PDCI president’s agricultural policies. “President Thiam should not only be the candidate of the PDCI-RDA but also the candidate of all farmers,” urged RENACITT president, N’Guessan Yao Aimé, who promised to share the PDCI’s message regarding rural land.

The government has encouraged rural populations, who consider themselves landowners, to take steps to obtain land certification, warning that lands without registration within a determined period will fall under state ownership.
