Abidjan is set to host another major basketball event from October 21-24, 2024: the FIBA Africa Regional Youth Camp 2024 for Girls. This elite camp, organized by FIBA in partnership with the NBA and local associations, aims to develop the skills of young players and coaches while identifying future top athletes in basketball.
For the 2024 edition, FIBA has selected two countries to host the event, with Côte d'Ivoire chosen through its national basketball federation, the Fédération Ivoirienne de Basketball (FIBB). Following the U18 Afrobasket Qualifiers held in August, the FIBB is once again showcasing its commitment to nurturing talent and ensuring the continuity of high-quality basketball in Côte d'Ivoire.
Both FIBA Africa and the NBA share this vision of fostering basketball development among young players. The camp will take place at the Palais des Sports in Treichville, and over 200 participants, including athletes, coaches, officials, and FIBA experts, are expected from across Côte d'Ivoire and abroad.
Targeted at girls under 18, the camp will focus on physical and technical skills, with participant selection based on these criteria and overseen by the FIBB's Technical Direction in the coming days. Côte d'Ivoire is honored to host this camp, which will play a key role in the growth of women's basketball in the country, a milestone as the nation prepares to host the Afrobasket Women’s Championship in 2025.
The land of Eburnie is ready to welcome the next generation of basketball stars!
