CAN 2025 Qualifiers: Mustapha Ghorbal to Officiate Chad vs Côte d'Ivoire Match

For the second round of the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (CAN) qualifiers, Chad will host Côte d'Ivoire on September 10, 2024. The Confederation of African Football (CAF) has appointed Algerian referee Mustapha Ghorbal to officiate this crucial match.

At 39 years old, Mustapha Ghorbal is recognized as one of the continent's top referees. He began his career in 2011 in the Algerian top-flight league and has been an international referee since 2014. Ghorbal’s extensive experience makes him a fitting choice for overseeing the clash between Chad and Côte d'Ivoire.

To assist Ghorbal, CAF has appointed a fully Algerian officiating team. Mokrane Gourabi will serve as the first assistant referee, while Abbes Akram Zerhouni has been designated as the second assistant referee. Loutfi Bekouassa will act as the fourth official.

The match between the Sao of Chad and the Elephants of Côte d'Ivoire will take place at the Ahmadou Ahidjo Stadium in Yaoundé. Before this fixture, Côte d'Ivoire will face Zambia on September 6, 2024, at the Stade de la Paix in Bouaké during the first round of the qualifiers. Meanwhile, Chad will travel to Sierra Leone on the same date for their opening match.
