Trophy Tour: The Trophy Presented to the Diplomatic Community in Côte D’Ivoire

The 2023 AFCON (Africa Cup of Nations) trophy was presented to the Diplomatic and Consular Community in Côte d’Ivoire on Wednesday, May 29, 2024, during a reception banquet at Latrille Event in Cocody Deux Plateaux. The event was led by the 1st Vice-President of the Ivorian Football Federation (FIF), Mr. Malick TOHE, who was accompanied by a delegation consisting of members of the Executive Committee and the Executive Director of the FIF.

This banquet, organized by the President of AFRIKJAPAN, Mr. Ferdinand Bleka, provided a wonderful opportunity for diplomats to relive the emotions of the 2023 AFCON and to congratulate the President of the FIF, the Elephants (the national football team), as well as the technical staff.

During the event, the Ambassador of Morocco, the Ambassador of India, the Director-General of the House of Africa in Paris, and the Representative of UNFPA gave speeches to pay tribute to the Elephants for all their efforts.

In his address, the 1st Vice-President of the FIF emphasized that the success of the Elephants is the result of everyone's commitment, especially the support from the diplomats, which was deeply felt following the defeat against Equatorial Guinea (4-0).

"This trophy before you is also the result of your commitment and support for this team that you hold dear in your hearts. We felt it after the 4-0 defeat against Equatorial Guinea. This defeat triggered something in you, a wave of solidarity through your various messages of encouragement that we received.

We are therefore very happy to be here to present this trophy to you. This Cup is the result of your efforts and your affection for your team. This AFCON truly allowed us to strengthen and consolidate our unity around what we hold dearest, Côte d’Ivoire. For your solidarity, the Ivorian Football Federation and its partners have naturally initiated this 'Trophy Tour' to say THANK YOU. Here is your Cup!" announced the 1st Vice-President of the FIF.
