African Caucus 2024 in Abuja: Nialé Kaba Discusses the Impact of IDA Contributions on Ivory Coast’s Development

Representing Ivory Coast at the African Caucus 2024, held from August 1 to 3 in Abuja, Nigeria, Nialé Kaba, Minister of Economy, Planning, and Development, shared insights on the impact of the International Development Association (IDA) contributions to the country’s development and economic transformation processes.

As the Governor of the World Bank for Ivory Coast, Nialé Kaba expressed gratitude to the Bretton Woods institutions for their technical and financial support, which amounts to over 3.6 trillion CFA francs allocated to various sectors in the country.

“These interventions have significantly strengthened governance and public financial management, leading to appreciable economic and social outcomes,” she noted. She also made recommendations to "enhance the impact of IDA resources in the different countries of intervention."

Under the patronage of Nigerian President Bola Tinubu and chaired by Nigerian Finance Minister and Economic Coordinator Adebayo Olawale Edun, the African Caucus 2024 is an annual meeting of International Monetary Fund (IMF) and World Bank (WB) governors, attended by prominent African figures from the economic sector. The theme for 2024 was: “Facilitating Intra-African Trade, a Catalyst for Sustainable Development in Africa.”

At the African Caucus 2024 in Abuja, Nigeria, from August 1-3, Nialé Kaba, Ivory Coast’s Minister of Economy, Planning, and Development, shared the country's experience with the International Development Association (IDA) contributions.

She expressed appreciation for the over 3.6 trillion CFA francs in support from Bretton Woods institutions, which have greatly bolstered governance and public financial management in Ivory Coast.

Kaba also offered recommendations to enhance the impact of IDA resources in various countries. This year's Caucus, under the patronage of President Bola Tinubu and chaired by Finance Minister Adebayo Olawale Edun, focused on “Facilitating Intra-African Trade, a Catalyst for Sustainable Development in Africa.”
