5th Annual Oil and Gas Conference and Expo: Minister Mamadou Sangafowa-Coulibaly Forges Productive Connections in Angola

From October 1-2, 2024, Côte d'Ivoire’s Minister of Mines, Petroleum, and Energy, Mamadou Sangafowa-Coulibaly, participated in the 5th Annual Oil and Gas Conference and Expo in Angola, invited by Angola’s Minister of Mineral Resources, Petroleum, and Gas. During the event, industry leaders discussed challenges and proposed high-level solutions, emphasizing the collaboration among African countries for more efficient resource management.

Mamadou Sangafowa-Coulibaly highlighted the growing difficulties in securing financing for oil and gas exploration, as many investors now focus on renewable energy. He also underscored the geopolitical issues affecting production regions and the urgent energy needs of African nations to sustain economic growth.

During his stay, Minister Sangafowa-Coulibaly visited Sonils, an integrated logistics service center operated by Angola’s national oil company, Sonangol. This visit strengthened south-south cooperation, following the recent visit of Angola's president to Côte d'Ivoire. The minister also extended an invitation to Angola for the inaugural International Extractive Resources and Energy Exhibition (SIREXE), set to take place in Abidjan from November 27 to December 2, 2024.
