U.S. and Ivorian Armed Forces Launch First Coordination Meeting

On September 6, 2024, Ambassador Jessica Davis Ba and the Chief of General Staff of the Armed Forces of Côte d’Ivoire, General Lassina Doumbia, presided over the first coordination meeting between the U.S. Department of Defense and the Ivorian Armed Forces (FACI). Representatives from the U.S. Department of Defense also met with their FACI counterparts to develop a five-year Bilateral Action Plan aimed at achieving shared security objectives.

This plan marks a significant step in strengthening the defense partnership between the United States and Côte d'Ivoire. Both parties are committed to enhancing military cooperation, addressing common security challenges, and fostering regional stability.

The meeting emphasized the importance of collaboration in areas such as counter-terrorism, capacity-building, and mutual support in defense operations. This Bilateral Action Plan will serve as a roadmap for deepening the strategic partnership and ensuring the long-term success of joint security initiatives.
